Prayer doesn’t have to be as complicated as we make it. God wants to hear from us with all the small and big things. We are starting a new series “Calling on God.” As we go through this series, here are some helpful prayers for you to use.
God loves to help you. He is not just waiting for us to ask for help; He is seeking ways to give us help. No wonder He stays up all night and takes no days off. His great love for us compels Him to steer our lives toward divine purpose. He loves to help you. Use the acronym HELP and these verses in Psalms to guide your prayer.
H.“Hear me Lord and answer me for I am poor and needy.” (Psalm 86:1)
E.“Establish my steps in your word.” (Psalm 119:133)
L. “Let your compassion quickly meet our needs because we are on the brink of despair.” (Psalm 79:8)
P. “Protect me, God, because I take refuge in You. I say to the Lord, You are my Lord, apart from You I have nothing good.” (Psalm 16:1)
God wants to make us whole- physically, mentally and spiritually! Sickness is under His domain, He didn’t create it, but He does have authority over it. We can come to God in great faith that not only does He care about our pain, heartache, and hurts but He has the power to do something about it.
Pray this prayer over you or a friend who needs healing:
Lord Jesus, thank you that you love [name of person who needs healing]. I know that you look with compassion and grace upon them right at this moment. I ask that you heal this disease in Jesus name. I ask that you make what is wrong, now right. I pray for a breakthrough and a supernatural miracle.
Your word says in Psalm 107:19-20
Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
and he saved them from their distress.
20 He sent out his word and healed them;
he rescued them from the grave.
Give your order to heal and rescue [name of person who needs healing] today. I believe you can do this. I believe that there is no illness You cannot heal and no situation out of your control. Keep my heart soft toward you. I pray this in faith today. Amen.
Scripture teaches that God loves to give His children wisdom. James 1:5 says If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.
Solomon, a great King in the Old Testament, asked for wisdom, and God gave liberally. Have you asked God for wisdom lately? We always have God’s full attention, we don’t have to make an appointment, He’s never too busy to hear us when we pray, He’s never preoccupied with other problems. All of God is completely available to you no matter where you are.
Follow this pattern: God I need wisdom regarding _____________. I want to hear your thoughts and advice about this situation. I am ready to listen. Amen.
Then sit quietly for 2-4 minutes (or more!) and try to receive what God is revealing to you. I like to sit with a pen and journal so I can jot down thoughts or images that come to mind. If you don’t hear anything, don’t be discouraged, just keep practicing listening for God’s voice and wisdom.
